BUD NEWTON of GEORGIA

William Allen "Bud" Newton from Norman Park, Georgia was a guy I worked with on "Italian Girl in Algiers" for the Augusta Opera Company in 1977.  He was in college at ABAC in Tifton where the opera played as one of the stops on its tour.  He was an ensemble player in his first professional gig.

Bud was selected as one of the few campus "Pacesetters," and the above pictured was captioned:

In the 1976-77 school term, Bud played leads in both ABAC musicals.  In the autumn he was Jesus in "Godspell,"

and following the "Italian Girl" tour, he played the male lead in "Little Mary Sunshine," shown here in rehearsal.
